Coats for Kids: Donation to Bent Elementary School

Each year, I donate coats or funds for coats to a local school to help any children who may be in need of a winter coat. For the last few years, I’ve donated to Sheridan Elementary School, but this year we learned they still have a surplus of coats from the last few years, so I reached out to Bent Elementary School Principal Guille Delgado, and she told me they could use some coats for some of their older students.

It was a delight to reconnect with Principal Delgado, who I met a few years ago when Adriana Rosales, a winner of the Mary Rohrscheib Teaching Scholarship, wrote about the impact Ms. Delgado made on her life. Principal Delgado gave me a tour of the school, which was designed by Arthur Pillsbury, and told me about several initiatives at the school.

I’m glad to be able to continue the tradition of donating coats to students in need this year, thanks to the support of our firm and our team. I do this in fond memory of my Aunt Brenda Davis, who worked at schools in Dwight and made it a point to buy coats for any children she noticed who were in need of a coat when the weather turned cold. She was quite a lady!
