What is Backpack Blitz?

A back-to-school giving campaign created to help kids start the school year with confidence, and all the right supplies. At Onward, we know that when kids have the tools they need to learn, they’re more likely to thrive. That’s why we donate brand-new backpacks filled with high-quality school supplies to students in need across Central Illinois.

This program is our way of supporting local families and teachers, while also honoring the belief that every child deserves a strong start. Whether it’s crayons or highlighters, every item in each bag is a small investment in our community’s future.

Why Do We Donate Backpacks?

Back-to-school season brings excitement, but for many families, it also brings stress. The cost of backpacks, notebooks, and basic classroom supplies can add up fast. Backpack Blitz helps ease that burden by putting essential tools directly into the hands of students who need them most. We believe school should be about learning, not worrying if you have what you need.

Our Donation Process

Community First. Kids Always.

We collaborate with schools, youth programs, and community groups in Bloomington, Decatur, Springfield and other towns across Central Illinois to identify where the need is greatest. Once we’ve made a match, our team personally delivers the backpacks, making sure each one ends up with a student who could use the support. It’s a simple act of kindness, with a real and lasting impact.
